trailer light problem
Submitted by hilly9 on Wed, 2017-06-14 20:21
Getting my boat ready for a early morning fish on Friday and I've noticed my trailer lights are faulty. Firstly about half of the rear passenger LEDs are out. The main problem though is when I turn my headlights/running lights on the taillights come on but then the brake lights don't work. With my running lights off the brake lights work fine. The indicators work all the time. I suppose my question is are the rear passenger LEDS which are out somehow causing this problem or is it somehting else entirely? Do i just need to replace them?
My electrical knowledge is limited to turning on a torch or changing light bulbs.
Cheers
Pete

Trailer lights
First up, I'd check your plug connections. LED's seem to get a bit suspect with a bad earth. Likewise, check your connections at the actual LED for the same reason. If the light's not working after that I'd say you're up for a new fitting. The unit I replaced on mine a few weeks ago was a sealed circuit board construction, pretty much a throwaway if stuffed. Good luck.
just dhu it

Earthing
sounds like no earth connection to trailer , connect a wire from the car earth , chassis across to the trailer frame and try again , i also have had led lights that rows just stop working and took them back for replacement
