Trailer Question............
Submitted by terboz123 on Wed, 2015-11-11 11:38
Hey all...
dont have time to use the search function, till later but thought i would post this to get everyones opinion as a start....
The trailer i have imported has a width of 2.64m..... The standard for the AUS is 2.5m
Is it just the standard permit i need to apply through main roads? Or have i hit a road block here...?
Brett

Loads in excess of 2.5mtrs
Loads in excess of 2.5mtrs width can only be carried when a permit is issued by mains road WA.
That's straight out of my booklet I had sitting on my desk from Main roads WA.

yes...... a show stopper
To register the trailer it must be 2.5m or less in width.
You can carry a over width load on a trailer with the appropriate permit.

2.5mtr wide loads
I am sure you need a permit for that, every time you go out

Yeh as said above trailer
Yeh as said above trailer has to be under 2.5m. If the loads over 2.5 and under 2.7 its a permit and flags.
Can you decrease the width of the wheels archers/wheels/axels?

Modify
Depending on the construction, you may be able to modify it. The guys at TowSafe in Osborne Park often do that, as do many other places.
May just need to shorten the axles, change the rims (maybe) and adjust the guards.
Give them a try.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Depending on how wide the
Depending on how wide the load is you can get a yearly permit. Around $75 I think..... someone will correct me.
Different levels of over width are subject to different requirements.

You cannot register a
You cannot register a trailer thats over 2.5m or move it unless its on a flatbed truck. A wide load is completely different again, you need a permit for that. Your importer should have gone through that with you? Hope you get her on the water soon! You might be able to get away with some different offset rims and taking the guards off?

the guys above are correct, you cannot register it over 2.5M UNLESS its a piece of farm machinery like a header
Have you got import approval for the trailer, who is your shipping agent?
EDIT-have you already got it off the dock?

Last I heard they don't
Last I heard they don't release trailers from customs unless they are Aussie compliant. Too many trailers went on to be registered without meeting the regs.
The towing permit for wide load now you can get 3 years for $50. You don't need a new permit for every towing event.

Trap for young players Brett.
Trap for young players Brett. The above is correct, trailer MUST be less than 2.5, then just $50 permit for 3 years for a 2.5 to 2.7 wide load on the -2.5 wide trailer.
Email send on permit stuff.
