Trailer Tyre Excessive Wear

Hi guys,

I have a new EZ Loader trailer - tandem axle, spring suspension.. probably has done around 3500km.

I've noticed excessive tyre wear on the outside of the passenger side rear tyre.

All the other tyres look brand new.

It's not under inflated.

Anyone know what the probably cause would be or dealt with a similar issue?

Cheers

Jay

It could be the way you reverse into your driveway putting extra pressure on that tyre.

Axle

I would be looking at the axle, either its bent or the spring is out of line.

What guarantee did you get with it

I'm not sure on the warranty

I'm not sure on the warranty on the trailer, it came with my boat which came from the US.

The dealer is 1700km from me so don't think I'd be able to do much with a claim.

Bent axle

It can only be 1 thing bent axle if the spring cente bolt is not located properly  and the axle is out of align being a solid axle it will wear the other wheel on same axle on the inside

Full width axle or torsion stub axle, being a USA trailer.

Jack it up and spin it.

Jack it up and spin it. Check for loose bearings. It could be the tyre isnt balanced or on the rim properly or even the rim might not be straight. You should be able to see runout if you give it a spin. Lots of trailer manufacturers use cheap rims and tyres and dont balance them.
