Hay People,
Went out and braved the cold this morning. Only caught a small (20cm) esturay cod or similar that had me confused that the reef was fighting back.......
More importantly though. There is a crazy homeless guy living in the cave down there. He didnt wake up til after sunrise but gave us a bit of a scare. He was being quite aggressive so we packed up and headed home before things escalated. It wasn't a nice situation to be in as he had us sort of cornered on the end of the island.
Just thought people should know.

went down this morning and seen him pack up his sleeping bag and proceed to have a go at every person in his path. He seen my mate snagged up and said you better go out and get it and then said I hope you get eaten by a bloody shark while youre out there then said fuck you all and went about his daily business. hahaha id be pretty knarky too if I had to sleep in a cave but due to his attitude I have no sympathy and it makes me wonder if that is the reason his on the streets. either way if he had just asked for some brekky money I might have flicked him a few bucks.

The island itself mate, well the outcropping of rocks they call an 'island', must be a recent addition to the scenery. Wasn't down there couple of weeks back, that I was aware of.
Best call the cops, probably wouldn't take much for him to resort to physical violence.

Job done, wow did he get a smelly wake up.LOL Just annoyed him with a torch, saved the bait for the fish.
Triggs is weeded out atm with ribbon weed all through the water. Will stay that until a run of easterlies happens.No Tailor, but there were some big yellowfin whiting heads on the shore that were a result of cleaning. They were about 50m down from the reef in the sand section. No usual blowies around which is a good sign.

out of all places to call home.. a rocky cave in winter does not seem like a sane place to hang out !
maybe he has some unfounded love for the fishes, or whatever it is hope he doesn't camp out the spot for too long.

Get the cops involved, i don't wanna put him out more than what he is but it's bit dodgey if young blokes are around, I always see people taking photos from there as well, only takes one push and someone to slip and get limestone to the face/ back of head

Went for a flick this morning with no luck. As the sun came up the cave man woke and the abuse began from his behalf. me and my mate were a bit worried coz the only way out was blocked by him. we ignored him for half an hour as he was asking for money, saying we should call the cops, swearing, asking if we came prepared to fight, then he said he was hungry rite before he started throwing his bread roll at us.
Then randomly he jumped into the breakers over the reef and in the big swell for a swim. we seen this as our opportunity to leave and did so walking up the beach to the crowd of other fishos. He got out of the water and began walking towards us. we grabbed the gear and started to move further away thinking he was gonna get crazy on our arses when he stopped me and had a calm chat bout how he loves the ocean and how he hates seeing people disrespect it and all that survives by it.
I thoughht jeeze as loose as this guy seems hes actually got a valid point bout the gulls with line in their mouths or all the rusting hooks on the reef and all the rubbish left on the beach, he remembered the words he shared with us last week and apologised for being rude to us earlier and said he just gets pissed off when people get there early and wake him up and annoy him and left saying that he isnt crazy or violent he just loves the ocean (maybe a little too much).
I dont know if it was the swim he took but he actually seemed like a decent crazy homeless guy with an honest love for the ocean and nature, caught me by surprise coz he actually loves living like that there, the beach inspector said he has been living on the beach for two years if he aint in the cave hes in the dunes, and actually has a court order to not be there. the cops come down and give him a move on every now and then but he always leaves just before the beach patrols start.

But I suspect that from some off the comments this dude is in need off help. Sounds very much like a chronic schizophrenic about to loose it. Google chronic schizophrenia and you will see the swings that it can have, and classically talk about God, nature and other odd things.
Rather than get agro at him it sounds like someone should alert mental health and see what they suggest. If he "looses" it might cause harm to himself or someone else.
Yes and the Stirling Hwy chap is a chronic schizophrenic who had an operation to his leg some years back, and was advised to walk to fix it. He is still walking and I recently saw him on Eric St in Cott.
There is also the guy on his bike that rides like a lunatic and yells things at anyone within ear shot.

Yea, your right.... Mental Health might be a big issue, especially about schizo's. Apparently "the house of Parliament" is meant to act as "one body corporate", as in, its supposed to be "one house" "one brain" But it is filled with about 60 different personalities that masquerade as one "person".
No offence, but as crazy as this guy was, he knew what he was talking about, and he never threatened he would hurt us, but he did mention something about a right to use force to prevent us breaching the litter act. I checked it out as well, he was right, he said something like breaching section 23 of the littetr act, and it was right, that basically, snapping off fishing line is an offence, and he said it was enforcablu under section 24 (d) of the criminal investigation act "under citizen powers".
I think he knows some of the laws.... I think it is a valid point though, if we snag up, we should technically be prepared to swim out and pick up our tackle. hmmmmm
