Two Rocks boat ramp closure

Turned up at 6am to find the car park closed. Nice to know. Asked a few of the blokes working there how long it would be out for and why wasn't anyone told about it. The reply I got was anywhere between one day or three days and it's not my job to tell people that it's going to be closed. Wankers.

Well yes and no. First project was to fix the ramp itself. it had broken up and was getting worse with boats powering on and surge causing large concrete chunks to move around. The second project only started because of large property developers pushing into two rocks forcing all the facilities to be upgrades.

Yes it would have made sense to do it all at once agree but at the end of the day it's the developers that have pushed for upgrade as they are using the marina as the selling point

Also. "Not broke don't fix it"  the end of the jetty pylon has snapped of leaving boats to rub up against exposed steal. So yeah please fix it all

I'm pretty sure they may open it on weekends tho while works are going on, unless they are working on jetty or ramp

bout time I agree gilly, some prick pulled in front of us on the weekend,  dropped his mate off to get the trailer said he was going to drive on  we're were like cool his going to outside lane,  we were down with that.... until his mate drove the trailer down  took up both lanes on the ramp and had trouble driving it on took him atleast 3 goes  and about 10 mins

we couldnt even get up to the jetty as he was going back and forth so much.

me and my mate Gray were fuming and we did it by hand way quicker than he did driving it on.

Drive thru?

Tue, 2015-05-26 14:34

It seems to be a contentious issue this drive on thing, its banned in some states and at some ramps, but if done properly, onto a drive on trailer

on  a properly contructed ramp , then it works , plain and simple.

The problems occur with skippers not doing it right ( thats what the training to get the tickets for right? ha !) on cheap arse ramps done to a minimum,

with the concrete finishing before the end of most larger boats.

Dont forget among paying boat regos, skippers tickets, fishing licences, local council rates, parking fees at ramps , gst on everything we buy for boating etc , boaters also pay the extra 4 cents a

litre on fuel, as the WA  govts , special road levy ( nothing to do with boating) . Multipy 4 cents a litre on every single litre burnt on boats every year, and we are taken for mugs

while the ramps are palmed off to the developers or local councils.

And the same thing happens on a federal level , again a fuel excise, that quote-----------The tax collected is partly used to fund national road infrastructure projects and repair roads, but most of it

(approximately 75%) goes into general revenue.

We should have the best bloody ramps in the world, after that lot!

I got no problem with people driving on trailers, i encourage it especially at places like 2 rocks it frees up the line quicker.

just when its done incorrectly and inconsiderablly  I have a problem  with it like how I mentioned above.

me neither, though I dont do it now.

worst is people who drive on then sit there for 5 minutes pushing while they scratch their asses, boats being blasted around on the jettys

And this is exactly how my boat ended up with gauges in the side from two rocks jetty. Retrieving solo bloke motors on next to me so much backwash from jamming in reverse my boat ends up banging against jetty while I try to ratchet up. I was retrieving first and ended up having to abort wait for him to stop then go again.

Driving on is great and my mate and I have it down pat on his boat with perfectly designed trailer. Some boats like mine are just not meet to be driven on.

Fingers crossed they get the ramp right this time. Unfortunately some of us need to drive on. There is no chance I can winch my yank boat on the trailer she is a heavy girl
