Two Rocks - check your trailer

just a warning and I am not going to go into details... Had a very minor run in with the 2nd  (we were the first, stilll pitch black) boat at two rocks mid week early morning. thought nothing of it, and to be frank i have no idea if it was even them....just odd it all happened in the same day....

Came home that arvy, to check over the trailer before jumping in the cruiser......

safety pin no wher eto be seen ,

2 x chain with shackles and 1 x wired shackle break away unclipped from the car...

both my tie downs (i normally leave ont he rear o the trailer cause ther enot too common here, one obviously cut in half the other gone.......

and  what shits me most.... after pulling the saftey pin out , they release the safety on the tow hitch.

Under no means am i accusing the lads we had a few words with over nothing.......so if your on this site, im not accusing you , its just odd. There is every chance it was a different group just having "Fun

coul of been a disaster for the insurance companym and more importantly my boat!

Well done for checking it all before heading off.People just don't think anymore. ...I'm sure they would if you were traveling home and they were heading towards you when the boat jumps off the hitch at 100 kph.Sorry to hear that this happened in my home town.

Ps hope you caught a feed.

Had something similar happen

Tue, 2016-06-07 09:01

Had something similar happen a while back where someone had undone my safety chain shackle that attacked to the winch post just enough so it was slightly biting and luckily it came undone as I was attaching it to the bow.

I've got a hitch pin lock and a hitch helmet which provide great security as well as increased towing safety as my trailer cannot jump off the towball. I've also had tacks welds put on any bolts I don't need to undo to prevent theft of things like my spare wheel. Too many arseholes out there!

padlock

Tue, 2016-06-07 10:10

this is why my trailer hitch has a padlock through it so it cant be taken off the car or stolen (if I actually had a good trailer)

a few weeks ago I was towing my mates boat down at Quindalup boat ramp mid week and someone had adjusted the trailer to the unhitch position during the time we were out fishing, no idea why my car was targeted no "run ins" it could have been nasty, nothing else tampered with as far as I could see.

I know it was tampered with and not my error as I double checked it when I hitched up in the morning as there was a slightly different chain arrangement and I had to use a spare pin from my tool kit

Was fishing fish rock about an hr or so , came back to car and the trailer was up off ball , actually thought it was a good mate playing funny buggers , swears wasn't him , he actually was in busso , not sure who it was ! I wouldn't have thought someone trying to steal around there , but you never know .

Important to report issues to police

Tue, 2016-06-07 13:04

Need to get the paper work trail going.

Report it to the police. That way if someone gets caught doing similar their acitivies can be scrutinised. And often found to be doing theses other crimes, get booked for the additional activities.  Load the gun so the police can fire it.

CCTV

Tue, 2016-06-07 13:13

Does the carpark have CCTV. If so why not make a call. They usually keep footage for 7 days. Say it caused a near road accident or something.
