Two Rocks on Saturday

Went out from Two Rocks yesterday on a mates boat this time.  Finally got onto some OK fish.  Poor old Northsea can't buy a fish lately.  Don't worry.  You'll get one one day!  It was the roughest water I have ever travelled back into.  It took just over 2 and a half hours to get back in.  The boat is a 575 Stacer with a 115 Johno on the back but it wasn't quite used at it's full potential heading home yesterday.  It was pretty hairy stuff.  Luckily the skipper was switched on.  He did a good job getting us back in one piece.  Needless to say, we were the only idiots still out there by the time we got in at 4pm.

I pulled up the nice Baldy and the Pinky.  I also released two undersized Dhuies.  The skipper caught the Dhuie and Big Black Arse.

Just looking at your catch

Mon, 2010-03-08 05:58

Just looking at your catch ,you don't bleed your fish or spick them .if not try it next time the fish tastes so much better ,also cold ice water in your ice box.I didn't bleed the dhuie i got in the bluewater comp and the side the fish was layed on was pink ,won't do that again.

Yeah.  I spiked my two

Mon, 2010-03-08 16:42

Yeah.  I spiked my two fish.  I think I might need a bit of practice though?  But the flesh on the two I caught were almost blood free and very white.  The skipper prefers to cut into there gills and that seemed to work ok too.  We always put them in an ice slurry now too.  Trust me, the Baldy and Pinky tasted good.  I've got some dhuie and black arse in the freezer now as well.  We just split all the fillets 3 ways.  That way we all got a taste of each fish.

The guy holding up the big invisible fish is "Northsea" on the forum.  It's his Filleting station set up.  So at least he contributed some way to the catch!  Ha ha!
