Using a 4x4 car winch as a boat trailer winch?
Submitted by EM296 on Sun, 2016-03-27 15:45
My boat trailer winch is on the way out and I am considering replacing it with a 4x4 car winch like this one..............
11000LBS / 5000KG Electric Winch Synthetic Rope ATV 4WD BOAT 12V Wirless Remote
Has anyone done this? What are the pros and cons?
How have you attached it to the trailer?
Thanks
Andy

I know Paul G is running one. Has a battery mounted to draw bar to power it. Seems to work well.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Yeh good faster than the marine ones. But check the draw theyll draw400+amps so need a extra battery on the trailer or a crazy supply from your car!

yeah mine came with one on it, 12,000lb ridge ryder (which is what vinnie is trying to remember). got an anderson on the back of the car which connects to another battery mounted permanently on the trailer, with an isolator on it.
works a treat, boat is 3.2t nearly empty. boat / trailer is 2012 and no dramas so far (touch wood).
