Video- Solo run to Point Samson

I was invited to join Webby down at Point Samson on the weekend. After chasing a few tuna earlier on in the morning and sight casting to a few Blue Bastards around and island I decided to hit the channel markers up. I hooked up to something on my Nitro Voodoo and almost got spooled on the first run. Tough conditions hey?

Enjoy,

Good effort!

Good effort on one tough fish, conditions look perfect. Bit of a risk standing on the rear seat while under way -could be a big swim.

Thanks for sharing.

haha  great vid, and an epic battle.  Shame about the loosing a great fish to sharks.

I feel gutted that after a great fight, you couldn't put him back to fight another day.

Haha I spend so many hours up

Thu, 2011-11-17 11:48

Haha I spend so many hours up here driving around with my legs looking for fish. Who says that men can't do two things at once. It is amazing how much more you see when you are up on a casting deck or seat compared to sitting down. Even the simple addition of a tiller extension makes the world of difference.

I will surely keep the videos coming, they are great fun to make and so worth while knowing that you guys are enjoying them.

We lurked along side quicky once and the sounder went nuts!!! Some monsters down there. We didnt stop because wew were unsure if you can pull up around it

Snappermiles- I suddenly realised that only had a few wraps of mono left after the first run, hence why i hastily got the motor running.

Peter, the spring tides made

Thu, 2011-11-17 13:15

Peter, the spring tides made it fun even getting a plastic down there, let alone a fly. It's way more fun finding them on the surface and casting at them like that.

Good work Paul on light spin,

Fri, 2011-11-18 09:38

Good work Paul on light spin, as POC said thers heaps of variety of fish on those markers if you pass the trevs, i live locally there in have caught heaps of good fish ther, on plastics and live bait. Have caught a variety of species from coral trout, rankin cod, cobia, mulloway, mackeral as well as those fun loven goldens, me and my brother often stop there and have contests on light spin, one on a certate 4000 and other on stradic 4000 with plastics and see can get in the first and biggest golden. Trust me at the end we would be short a couple of $$$ as we often break rods and lose abit of gear. Heaps of funn tho, the motto was catch a fish sit back have a beer and do it all over again..

Taylor marc= your apperently not allowed to fish around the ore wharf, but if you do it at the dark of night you can reap the rewards.. Thanks Mr Rio Tinto

Snugget, I sat down as soon

Fri, 2011-11-18 12:21

Snugget, I sat down as soon as I finished filming and devoured a freezing cold juciy mango. It is so much fun fishing around those things. I live in Hedland and regularly spend whole sessions going from one marker to the other all the way out and back in.

Tigh82, I have got a Canon 7d and a Tokina 11-16mm lens. It is fantastic to film with, a few tweaks with the video setting gets the best results, and it also takes incredible photos. I have a mini little tripod with a suction cup on the base so I stick it to my front seat.

Glad your all enjoying it.

Nice vid mate

That took me back many years to when I lived in Karratha and fished at Samson a bit.

Is there any triple tail caught around the chanel markers these days?
