 Probably better areas like Point Resolution off Victoria Ave in Dalkeith, and The Esplanade in Peppermint Grove. The flats in front of Point Walter are good also. These are easy to wade and I've caught good flatties at all of them, especially Point Resolution. Mine were all caught on lures or fly as getting bait past the blowies is impossible.

Years back I used to get some monster lizzards out from point Walter. Just slowly work your way along in the shallows casting 100's of times. Polarised sunniest work a treat for spotting any movement
