Will have kayaks but interested in shore based too. Staying at Coalmine Beach.
Any suggestions? Tackle, locations etc - all thoughts welcome! Keen to do some lure fishing.
Cheers!

lucky man
hey mate if your staying at coalmine the mouth of the frankland river will suit you best. from the mouth all the way down to coalmine beach is awesome for big bream big flat head big whiting skippy and big blueys in the channels so take your drop nets. the best bait ive used is fresh white bait. You only want to fish in half a meter of water along the shore. use light line with just a hook and swivel no sinker and a whole white bait. Tight lines mate
shut up and fish

From coalmine head west
Toward the mouth of the nornalup inlet, you want to be in the shallows <3 feet, on a still day if you see cockle shells on the bottom pull up and fish. Mullet, cockles, blood worms, river prawns, mussels etc are all good bait. Can try twisties, hardbodies and soft plastics too. The franklin and deep also have lots of snags. The mouth of the Franklin and Deep rivers are both good as are the shallows around the edges of the inlet all fire. The channel leading into the franklin is also a good spot, move out of the channel and two anchors to hold the boat parrallel to the channel, fish the edges out of the channel and onto the flats. Also behind snake island(I think this is the name) on the west side there are a few good spots also.
Use the search function, I have put up a couple of Walpole reports as has Anytime Brad, I think Mick C went last year for a comp and got a few good catches and a gummy in the deep spots in the middle of the estuary. Good Luck!
