Want to get a start in mining?

First Quantum Minerals are looking to take in a number of Process Technicians at entry level for down here at the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operations. FIFO, DIDO or residential if your lucky enough to get a property in Ravy or Hopey.  Opportunites dont come around like this very often, so if your interested, follow the link and see what comes of it.

Cheers

Yeah, 2 & 1 at present but that's going to change  when we get going probably, pushing for 2 & 2. But the upside is the dollars are a whole lot better doing 2 & 1, so it dont bother me that much.

I'm a shift Supervisor in Utilities, look after power, water and acid. And as for the 3 years experience, that's probably a carry over by mistake for the other positions they were looking to fill, so dont let that put you off.

Everything is in the commissioning stages now Grant, not sure on the mining side yet as the contract for that hasn't been issued just yet, but I've heard a rumour it's been given to Piacentini's contracting in Bunbury.

The residential roles extend

Sat, 2011-04-30 18:48

The residential roles extend to Monday to Friday people as well as shift workers and others who are on the 2-1 roster and some on a 6-2 roster, but they are the South Africans. Residential is also offered to trades people and people who are in supervisory roles like myself, but I didn't opt for it.

Cheers

Processing Nickel....YUK!

Im at Murrin Murrin but thankfully in the mining section not processing. The times i do have drag myself over to plant, man the place stinks of all that dirty crap they use. Big dirty sulphur piles also, lovely on strong wind. Then you've got cold acid start ups around after shutdown, even hot start ups are toxic enough to have to clear the whole plant.

Got few mutated people walking around the plant also.

Good luck.

Wed, 2011-05-04 19:43

Hey Gibbs, this place is nothing like Murrin, and we've got a few guys over here now from there because this place is much better and cleaner and a heaps better place to work. We dont have any sulphur piles here, all our sulphur comes up from a shed down in Esperance, we have no storage here for that. I was up at Murrin for a job last year and couldn't get away from there fast enough and I was very surprised when I come down here for a squizz, everything is better, from the plant to the village and everything in between.

Cheers

Thu, 2011-05-05 06:56

Well that's handy then, i avoid our plant at all cost but sometimes get sent there for training and then put the after burners on to get the hell out of there.

There is 1 loader on the sulfur pit that we look after after F'me, even after washing it for an hour the eye's are stinging in the shower after working on it. Looking to remove it from our contract.

But comon, Murrin's camp is freakin awesome. I can't say iv been to a better 1 yet. If Ravo's is somehow better id be impressed.

As for information on Hopetoun, Great for young familys and Older couples, Plenty to get out and see, great camping and 4x4 tracks everywhere, great fishing and not a bad social scene for a small town, there always soemthing going on.
