What sort of family car?
I have a Baron, and tow it with a Magna. But only 100 meters. Would't be able to tow it through town. It has a tandom trailer, this weighs about 750kg (3/4 tonne), a single axle trailer would reduce the weight a fair bit (I am just talking about reducing all up weight, not the virtues of single/tandom trailers).
Remember that all trailers over 750KG must have (working) brakes. If I was able to get another trailer and get the weight down, I would still have to have load stabilising bars fitted between vehicle and trailer to tow it.
So you are really limited by the towing limits of your car.

Baron boat
Great selection, I have a Baron and it is a fantastic family and fishing boat, handles the rough water well. As iana has said they are not a light boat and would tow with a commodore or ford if going any distance. My boat is on a tandom trailer and has brakes, it is towed behind a rodeo 4x4. The boat has had a lot of work done to it and probably weighs more than most with a 225hp swinging of the back

if its a sedan you might
if its a sedan you might need to beef up the springs in the rear. we did our AU111 wagon springs when we got our boat and it made a huge difference when towing. reasonable price too
