Warroora Station

 Hi everyone,

New member to the site, and looks like plenty of people willing to offer some advice, so thought I'd give it a shot.

Heading up to Warroora Station in a few weeks time, and was just after some advice on fishing outside the reef. I've been up there before, but have never ventured out more than about 1km offshore. We've just bought a brand spanking new Garmin Sounder and was just intererested to see how far out we would have to go to pick up some solid lumps witht a bit more depth. Usually just fish around the main reef picking up spanglies(About 5-8meters deep), but last year jagged a Red not far fron the main reef, now we've got the bug and would love to get onto a few more!

Obviously not expecting GPS co-ordinates, but we've only got a 13ft Tinny, so just want a gauge of how far out we'd need to go. (We stay north of the Lagoon, near the cliffs)

Cheers Guys!!!

 There is some good ground

There is some good ground 5-7nm out in 40-50m but be prepared to sound for a few hours before you find much. Also in a 13ft tinny you will want to make sure the weather is glamour and you have your safety gear ready to go because most days there arnt many people out there.

Dont think so, have found myself fishing with the straight hook more now and Warra is limited by the marine reserve so will do a few trips to brolhos (area)  instead.

Lovely, wouldnt mind doing a bit of diving at Warroora, but seen just a few too many sharks up that way when we've been out, I'll stick to the rock pools at low tide to check out the reefs I think!
