Weekends bottom bashing

Wondering how everybody's metro fishing went over the weekend as we've had two great days for boating.

I went out yesterday and struggled earlier on, we only managed our first keeper just after lunchtime, and from then on the fish were a little more co-operative, always a concern for the skipper when lunchtime comes around with no runs on the scoreboard.

Sat fishing

Graham, the dhu is only about 6kg, we released a smaller, but legal one about two hours prior, in anticipation of catching a larger one, picked that one up on the last drift... lucky!!

Auslobster, yes that is a Goatfish, exactly which species is beyond me, I will get the MAAC records man on to that. I had a look through a species ID book, but didn't come up with anything conclusive, anyone??
Dhuboi, 65mt always seems to work for me , no matter where they say the dhu's are, I fish that depth year round.

Went out really early

Sun, 2010-05-16 21:38

Saturday around 2:30  and fished the 5fb in around 15 metres.  The sounder was lit up with some big fish.  Froze our asses off while my mate had fun with Port Jacksons.  Did catch a 55cm banded sweep and a 42 cm foxfish.  Had to come back in early.

Wish I had just slept in and went out deep again...bloody cold that time of the morning.

Glad to see everyone get a feed..beautiful out there this time of year when only a few of us head out.

nice catch there. that last one looks a bit like a pig fish, same family as fox fish . in the end you ended with a nice feed of fresh fish and a mixed bag
