local knowledge

I have been speaking to a Collie local and he says he does well trawling with sp grubs on a jig head. Just set the leccy to med/slow speed and trawl the sp out the back, slowly lifting and dropping the rod tip as you go. I spoke to another couple at the dam yesterday who were trawling a mepps spinner behind their yak and caught 3 redfin in a couple of hours. They launched in Allanson and paddled up to where the river/dam meets the start of the wellington forrest. I have only fished from the shore at the dam and have caught redfin up to 25cm on sp's, small hardbodies and spinners.

and ive seen other people with fish around 1 kilo but most are tiny compared to what these guys had and they said that they got one bigger the day before this was last summer on a nice hot evening

mind you most fish there are around the 25cm mark which isnt bad...
