went for accidental swim this arvo
down at the point peron ramp this arvo , a bloke turns up and launches then pulls his trailer out to park in the car park , all of a sudden i notice his boat is drifting away from the ramp , the bloke is still on his way back from the car park. Jump out of my car and bolt to the ramp (well shuffle as fast as i can go these days) get to the boat and see the stern line line has come free,
by this time the bloke has seen what is happening and shouting to me to grab the boat (which is what i was doing ) he arrives and secures the bow , I lean out to grab the stern hand rail and then realise it was a bit too far off the ramp and and i cant pull the stern back to the ramp and my body weight is pushing the stern further away from the ramp
oh shit i am going for a swim i think and yes splash and i am in the drink , i climbed up boat ladder and get off the bow bloody water was freezing and i am shivering like a drowned rat , Boat owner is trying to stop himself laughing , then we both start laughing , "thanks for you help mate" he says " no worries" i say and walk back to my car thinking to myself thats another fine mess you got yourself into peter

Reminds me of one month ago,
Reminds me of one month ago, coming into the ramp with a strong cross breeze, went to pull up on the downwind side and as I got near I cut the motor, only the wind started to push the boat away just as my mate jumped for the pontoon, he made it with both feet but was unbalanced leaning back.
About to fall backwards he jumped and landed on his bum on the side of the boat and grabbed the rocket launcher. I grabbed him by the scruff of his collar and held him on the side then pulled him in.
Luckily he didn't go in as he had the car key remote and Iphone in his pocket (otherwise I may have pushed rather than pulled).
Unluckily I didn't have the go-pro running. :-)

OOPS!
HAHAHA
G'day Pete, Thanks mate that was me. I couldnt help but wonder if you were a fellow fishwrecked member. Well there you go hey.
What actually caused the stern to come free was that my last deckie untied the knot in the line which I had tied off at the back of the boat. Of course i didnt know that it had been tampered with because I never take that line off. That is the first knot I have had come undone in 7years of boating,I am really not happy. I will be sure to make that particular deckie "accidently" fall in next time we are back at the ramp. Or maybe I should do it before we leave and he can freeze the day.
Sorry mate, I will give a couple beers next time I see you down there. And I got a few squid too.

You're lucky it was Peter.I
You're lucky it was Peter.
I once saw a similar thing as I arrived to launch and I saw a guy come back from parking his car to be met casually by another guy that was fishing off the boat ramp pier.
The boaty was looking around puzzled for his boat when the other guy casually says, "its over there" pointing out to sea. You didnt tie it properly... he continues sagely. All he was missing was the pipe!
The poor bugger beat me to it and asked in an incredulous tone.. if you saw it why didnt you stop it??? Guy just shrugged and said, "not my boat".... he showed great restraint in not decking the guy I thought. Luckily it hadnt gone too far and I was able to take him to it in my boat before it came to grief. I couldnt resist and told the guy I hoped he caught a stonefish! What a nob!
Well done Peter!

Yes well done Peter
It is good to see that there are still some people3 out there that think of others. To the guy that said "not my boat" this person quite obviously doesn't like boaties and I hope karma calls on him soon.

Truth Is
Truth is the front rope never came undone so the boat wasn't going anywhere, it was just the arse end was being swung around by the surging swell. From the carpark to me it looked worse than it was and I was running with my 2 year son, and I can tell you now I couldn't care what happened to the boat. There was no way I was leaving my child behind.
So yes I was appreciative and I was a bit shocked at what had just happened. And then seeing how cold poor ol Pete looked I thought I better not get into a chat with him.
I tell you what though, I would of loved to have seen his wifes face when he walked through the front doors.
