What do you jig with?
Submitted by DazSamFishing on Sat, 2009-10-03 22:45
I just thought I would put a new thread out there to see what jig outfits fellow FW members are using.
Interested in all light, medium & heavy jigging outfits. Everything from rods to line.
Let me know what you use & how you rate your jigging outfit (light & comfortable - heavy & tiring etc.)

for the heavy gear i use a stella 20000 with avanti gt smp line pe6 (90lb) on a shimano blue rose rod ... great for slowing down the odd big sambo, shark .
for medium gear i use a saltiga 4500 on a saltiga deep 55b running pe4 .
for lighter i use a certate hype custom 4000 pe3 on a twincraft pe3 rod i got from honsu .. this is my best combo as its stopped big pinks and dhu's while drift baiting and stops the big sambo's that i get in shallow water really nice :P .. light enough to use from the yak but still strong for when it counts.

Sigh, been doing more fishing on the net than IRL, but I may as well post.
Medium: Xzoga PE3, Avet Sx MC 2-Sp, with 30lb power pro
Heavier: Monstermesh PE6-8, Saltist 30TH, 50lb power pro*
Still really needs to be used in anger, closest it got was a large shark in Exmouth before I was bitten off.
*Soon to be swapped for birthday loot Daiwa Saltist LD 30 2-sp and Varivas Avani Big One PE4/62lb.

jigging gear
light- Jig Master PE 2-3 from Oceanside with 30lb frog Ryobi 5000 Metaroyal
Heavy-Xzoga PE 6 with 50lb on Ryobi 5000 Metaroyal
I just swap the spool on the metaroyal.
The Heavy only really comes out when the big sambos arrive and for up North as required.

well.......
Jigging: I have bits and pieces for this, still collecting toys!
Light: Morethan Branzino 3000 with 20lb sunline, rod: I got my eye on one of those hearty rise jig force PE 1.5 - 3 / twincraft PE 1.5 - 3 / Salty fighter PE0.8 - 2 / Exploder II Pe1 - 3
Med: Saltist LD30 2 speed with 45lb PE4 Daiwa silicone, twincraft PE3
Heavy: Shimano T-Curve 400 spin, no reel yet but it will be a Stella 20000SW - I'm planning to run 2 spools (I will use the spool from the 18000SW I'm also going to buy for popping) and run Varivas Avani GT 130lb PE10 and 80lb / 100lb Jerry Brown hollow core.
Well thats the plan anyway.....

Yes
Tentaive plans are for either a Ripple Fisher 78 or a Smith Komodo Dragon. I'm leaning towards the KD at this stage.

nice........
I have a Shimano GT stick that I can use as a stickbait rod if I get the urge.
Hence why I'm leaning towards the KD as its a bit more suited to hoofing bigger chuggers. May need 2 x 20000SW's since I have 2 rods......

Ive used both rods and IMO the 79R feels better with poppers. But i recommend you look at the 78PF or the 78Flex.

that if I bought an 18000SW and 2 x 20000SW they'd throw in a 5000SW to be nice? Could make up a PE5 jigging combo..........

I originally placed an order for a Hots Wei World 52, but found plenty of people commenting that they need a lot more respect than most high end jigging rods on the market. The mogi should hold up to plenty of abuse.
