What fishwrecked.com is all about
Hi Crew,
Its been a while since I've done a general fishwrecked notice so here's a little bit of reading. Fishwrecked.com is approaching its third birthday in a couple of weeks and is continuing to gain momentum and exposure within the fishing community. I ultimately created this site as an alternative to the three other fishing sites running in Western Australia, mainly because I was disappointed with how they represented recreational fishing and some of the methods they used to educate fishermen that aren't as knowledgable as themselves.
As a result of opening a media facility for recreational anglers to voice their opinions I realise that I have made myself and the site a target for certain individuals to criticise our motives. So I think I should clear a few things up for those that are new to the site and for anyone that has any misconception about what we stand for.
Lately we have had some serious discussions relating to kill pics photo's and how they reflect on us as anglers and whether they give ammunition to those that oppose fishing. This site now has well over 5000 fishing pictures of which 1-2% are photo's of pavers or big kill shots. To be tarnished by several respected people who consider themselves important in the fishing scene has annoyed me, but highlights how far the recreational fishing community as a whole has to go to even be considered as a serious entity.
Fishwrecked.com promotes recreational fishing and the rules and regulations which govern it. Having spoken with many thousands of recreational anglers I know that there is a new age developing where people are becoming more conservative with their catches and have an understanding that we are utilising a finite resource thats management is extremely important to our way of living. Whether we agree or disagree with how it is done; it is our right to speak up and have our say, which is why this site exists, for you to speak your mind on fishing matters without fear of recrimination.
As fishwrecked.com's owner, I think it is very important for me to reinforce that we are dedicated to our sport and our resource. We are active in presenting our views and opinions and consider ourself at the forefront of understanding, realising and accepting the way we can utilise our fishery in the future. Its unfortunate that instead of moving foward together we are yet divided by those that misconstrue what we stand for and how proactive we really are in the betterment of our aquatic environment.
I'd like to thank all those members that have continued to contribute to the site, its only as good as you guys make it. If any of you want to discuss this matter further with me, please PM or email me. Please don't use this thread to bag them out as it doesn't do any good for anyone, I just felt I needed to make my voice heard. Keep the photo's coming. :)
Regards,
Adam Gallash

I'll second that!
Very well written and totally concur Adam, FW is a great site, through not in the least by the calibre (and the respect I have) for the guy at the helm!
I think periodic promulgation of what FW stands for and issues etc is very helpful. It re-grounds us, reminds us and educates newbies.
It's an absolute pleasure to be on here!

Hear Hear Adam
I joined Fishwrecked after searching around the net for somewhere to discuss and to learn more about one of my great loves - fishing. I don't think I could have found a better source anywhere.
Thanks to you and all of the other extremely helpful people on this site who have helped take my fishing to another level.

and another thing................
Yes, Adam I agree.
Last night night a funny thing happened to me. I was geared up to a night dive for prawns (wetsuit, hood the works). In the vicinity were someother divers. They turned out to be fishwrecked members.
I believe Fishwrecked is an excellent vehicle for like minded people to share their views and experience. Additionally, I have met these like minded people. Had it not been for fishwrecked, it would have been the perfunctory greeting and moved on. I have been in awe of some of the catches of these people, and may end up doing some diving with them
Cheers Adam, keep it up
