What now with crayfish

Sorry, I'm knew to the crayfish catching - actually my pots never went out this season, but wouldn't mind still using them.

So everyone is talking about the white crayfish run is finished.

Is it still possible to catch crays out from Perth over the next few months? Do they just go out deeper or stop feeding?

Is it therefore still worthwhile putting pots out over Jan/Feb march and roughly where should I be thinking about putting them?

Thanks for help and sorry about the amateurish questions.

 you can get crays at

you can get crays at anytime. Its just this time of year they are in full swing, and plenty to get as the crays are migrating out deeper.

If you pot up close / on reef really anywhere your a chance at catching resident crays. Most people are catching red crays now, which are more resident crays rather than migrating crays

Jan/Feb will be a slog....

...but the reds will have a bit of a "run" themselves come March/April...and I'm referring to any of the inshore areas, ie: inside the 3-mile if you're NOR, or inside FFB if you're fishing SOR.

...eight years of pro crayfishing out of Jurien and Two Rocks, I saw what I saw. Maybe warmer water, maybe more swell, but typically anywhere from 100 to 300+kgs/day, working between the beach and the main reefs.
