What to take?.
It's happening people.
Friday marks the start of the next chapter in myself and my wife's life together, hopping in the cars with the mutts and heading to Cairns for two weeks before making the jump up to Thursday Island for the next three years or so. I'm taking the big duck over early next year with all of my fishing and spearing gear and I'm allowed to take a rod tube on the plane with some reels and tackle ( 23kg of luggage has got 6kg of clothes to last me for the next three months so boardies n shorts are the go as there's no work on my horizon for the foreseeable future....:)
Soooo that leaves me with 14kg of space for fishing stuff.
Im thinking one whippy light rod for chasing squiddly diddlies and chucking some twisties around. Seven foot graphite with a Penn affinity 4000
A couple of bigger rods for getting belted at the local jetty. Shiamano Terez with Daiwa Saltist 6500
Lastly my trusty Demonblood rod with a Talica 12 2 speed if I can get lucky and get a boat fish in.
What sort of placcies, lures and poppers would you be packing?
Thanks people.
My wife understands why I clean my rods n reels in the shower....

One thing to remember , if
One thing to remember , if your taking your reels not the plane as hand luggage for safe keeping . Don't leave the braid on as they will make you take it off and dispose of it .
As far as other stuff goes unfortunately I am over 14 kg so I'm out . Why not just take a good selection of lures and plastics so you can work out which ones work best , then stock up on them ones. Sounds like you got your rods all sorted

I wouldn't know where to
I wouldn't know where to start! I'd probably go through my tackle and choose what I wanted, weigh it, take some stuff out, weigh again, reduce again etc. until I got down to 14kg! Bransfords Tackle in Cairns is a bloody tackle shop - maybe they ship to TI?
How do you manage to not work? Curious why you're heading to TI.

I’m a lucky man.
My wife is running the Torres straight and northern cape of Queensland health services up there. She's been doing the same in Carnarvon for the last four years, this makes me a house bitch by trade ( best trade I've ever had, I encourage guys to support their wives...:) No kids makes my day pretty much whatever I want to do. So long as the house is clean and there's food on the table at dinner time I'm a free agent. Hang on, I'm the worlds luckiest man!.

Buy a set of digital scales
Buy a set of digital scales to make sure you get every gram of tackle sorted . What you listed sounds alright and chuck in a few of big Johns jigs, you will need those strong hooks.

reel bodies and lure s without hooks are carry on - they never weigh it

For sure Crano.
Any time you want to drag your ass over I'll be more than happy to take you for a fang in the big duck. Might even catch a fish or two....

Hopped on the scales today.
In Cairns waiting to fly out to TI on Friday morning. Ended up with 22kg of tackle in a bag a rod tube and 6kg of clothes in my carry on bag. All of my " non essentials " will be arriving with the car when it makes it to the Island in about three weeks time. No shoes no worries me thinks!.

Too many clothes Boardies,
Too many clothes Boardies, fishing shirt and a couple of pairs of jocks would have sufficed.

Who needs clothes?!?
Just got back from Bransfords tackle....... They were doing a deal on Halco lures buy three and get a free laser pro. Looks like I'm the proud owner of four new free laser pros and a shit ton of other lures. Might have to ditch a few pairs of undies to make weight!. Can't wait to get the daily fishing happening. I hear that's where Hungry Spot ended up Frosty.

You might have to buy a pair
You might have to buy a pair of shorts with lots of pockets in them to fill up with lures. It won't be carry on then .
