Tackle Shack is my local so i support them. Plus Matts new haircut makes me want to just keep going back.

Ryan at Oceanside has also helped me out a lot in the past with questions, but im scared to travel too far south of the river...ive heard stories

we don't take to kindly to your type in the deep south, so best be keeping to your side of the river boy.

Tackle Shack, Oceanside, Bluewater and Campbells are all good IMO.

Oceanside followed by Anglers Anon

Ryan and Honsu are exceptional in giving sound advice whether or not they make a sale - and when you place an order you can bet you will hear from them no matter how small the part or component - servicve is the name

AA is just closer to where I live and hence the fall back option but Oceanside by preference

Tackle shop

Tue, 2010-01-19 09:17

There's one in Balcatta, Bluewater I think it is, high side of the road, they have always been friendly.

I was shopping at a tackle store in Morley but they were all in favour of the huge fishing tax so they have their opinion and I have my money.

BCF Midland - my son has applied for jobs on the holidays several times and can never get a look in but when he goes in to shop for gear they know nothing, and here's my 15 yr old spoon feeding this lot to find out if they have what he's after. They just don't know the product....

The Gun mart/ Tackle store in Midland Gt Eastern Hwy has a good range and they are fairly helpful.

Then, there is Deans tackle store in Kalbarri who is always helpful and willing to repair my gear if it breaks.

S Bend Caravan Park - not a tackle store but very helpful and went out of his way when we were up there last year. Thanks mate; you salvaged a trip that was turning pear shaped and made it work for me and my boys.

Opps and of course Tackle Shack Malaga, Have been in there and they know the products that they sell, don't try to sell me things I don't need, in fact asked me what I was fishing for and recommended that I buy something cheaper than the jigs he had held for me. Can't ask for more than that, thanks ;)

i have been to rocko bcf a few times

Tue, 2010-01-19 06:47

and will never go back again . the worst service i have ever had from any tackle store in WA. chicks behind the counter just standing there talking about who rooted who on the weekend and crap like that while you have ten people waiting for service and they just turn there back and ignore you . then another time i went in i was the only person in the store and instead of coming upo to me to see if i needed help they called a security check to every isle i walked down so i put my stuff back on the shelves and walked out .talk about great customer service LOL

I'd call a security check on you as well, shady looking character that you are!

I only use BCF when it is convienient, the pricing is on par and I dont need any advice on what I am buying. IMO, you dont go there expecting any level of reasonable service.

BCF always call out security

Tue, 2010-01-19 07:39

BCF always call out security check for some reason,,at least when i go there, just don't take any notice of BCF catalogue sales, i wanted a hobie fishing shirt (AFC) last month,,they said they never had any nor would they be getting any in,,i went to Mandurah BCF to get one ,,,

Complete Angler rocko have regualar V.I.P nights,, B.B.Q s some with fishing reps giving talks etc.

The only thing i hate is drawing the raffles,,every one around me wins a prize and i miss out by one or two numbers,,,lol

Oceanside sounds good but too many Northeners visit the shop, you would be worried about your personal safety,,there mad up there Cool

i think those security checks are just a constant recording and just a bit of a scare tactic. If im board and just wana look at some fishing gear then ill go to bcf cos i know i can stuff around in there as long as i want and be left alone, no pressure to buy anything.

BCF = no stock, no service

Tue, 2010-01-19 11:57

Everytime I go to BCF in Cannington the shelves are bare in the terminal tackle section..

Not sure if they just don't carry enough stock (doubt they are that busy and can't keep up with stock levels) or they just really limit their range.

Pricing is pretty ordinary most times as well.

Much better options around town IMO.

Got to agree Tackle Shack and Oceanside are great stores, but locally I like Jet Cycles Tackle & Dive in Gosnells.

Smallish store, reasonable range but not bad on pricing.

Will, the owner is always very helpful every time I've been in, whether it be for bait or tackle.

Well Justin certainly knows his stuff at BCF, seeing he is the Editor of a popular fishing mag in W.A you would expect so ,very helpful and friendly i have experienced.

Ranger at Rocko (Pt Kennedy) is all set up wrong the counters in the wrong spot,it should be near the door,,agreed they don't know nothing about nothing,if you remember that you will be fine, then you will not be suprised with blank looks when you ask a question,,lol

tackle shack, oceanside ,bluewater and campbells are great

But my locals are

bcf cannington they rang me to tell me they have put aside an epirb at the right price for me when no one had them in stock in wa ,its not what you know ,its who you know and rangers in cannington they helped me out on Sunday chrismas weekend , with a steering set up for my boat which i broke Saturday evening skiing.

Its the people behind the store that make the store.

Not tackle related but!!

Wed, 2010-01-20 22:54

Went looking for axle U-bolts and plates to put new springs on trailer so went to Repco... No Luck!!!!

Went to Supercheap... Not enough in stock!!!

Tried Autopro and AutoOne... No Luck!!

Went past BCF Joondalup and thought I'd turn around have a look. Plenty in stock and half the price than the auto shops and trailer shops.

Used to use Gotone in Woodvale. Haven't tried the new store since it opened so might go have a look before we head off to Busselton end of next week.

Tackle Shack in Malaga is preferred place to go if I'm not sure what I need or want.... Otherwise I shop around for the best price when I do know.

Cheers,
David

Met Nick Hocking in there. I was shopping around gettn some stuff with my sis when he came over and said hello as he knows my sister. Nice guy gave me some tips on colour choices for lures when chasing tailor. Colours that he thought were working for him at the time. pretty sure he was working there not sure if he still is though.

Personally i shop at blue water mindarie, I go and see a bloke down there called Joff i think he said he used to work in the scarborough shop anyways hes full of helpful advice and a nice guy so i get him to sort me out. He recently printed out and gave me a copy of his special knot that he uses to to tie braid to a leader called the Hal Harvey joiner which was very cool of him.

For terminal tackle i shop at Big W or Kmart i find the prices in there very reasonable.

Imo any shop with great staff with good avice that know HOW to fish is a good shop.
