a sinker to some heavier fishing line and drop it down in the cavity of the wall .... when you locate it at the botom attach your cable to it and pull it back up.... 2 people needed but easiest way i did it in my house.....

or cut a small (25 mm ) strip in the wall (floor to ceiling )  and insert conduit ... then just plaster back over and re paint it........

Works a treat. Get the top guy to drop it down, bottom person use a piece off wire bent back so its like a hook shape. Now its just a matter off moving the sinker line until you feel it catch on the hook, pull it back, tie the cable to it and bob's your uncle.

cheers it's a great idea, have done that before...  but current house has roof tiles which are a bitch to remove, so if i run the cable on a snake i can reach it from inside the roof cavity a lot easier .. will be easier than removing the tiles i think!

forget droping a string and trying to hook it out of the wall, first drill your hole in the wall then shove in 2 or 3 metres of thin wire like phone cable then from the top of the cavity drop down a piece of chain on string with a hook on the end

just jiggle it until you hook a loop of phone cable then pull it up tape on your coax and pull down or up it's up to you.

what suburb are you in silly,   its okay to push up a cavity king to drag down the coax , but you will have to crawl through the roof space right to the cavity to attached your coax as the plastic strips ( cavity kings are 3 to 4 mt long), another way is to get some plastic pipe with an elbow on it and feed a string and lead weight through and drop directly down the cavity from some distance back and then use a coat hanger with a small hook on one end to catch the string
