Wilbinga Conditions

Hey fellas... just wondering if anyone has been up to Wilbinga this week and knows what the conditions are like up there? Is there much weed around? and how soft is the beach atm?

Planning to do a bit of exploring tomorrow and a fish in the afternoon. Think we'll head in via Wilbinga road and do some exploring up through the tracks to find a spot accessible through the dunes to avoid driving up the beach.

Hopefully will have something to report on sunday.

Nick

Went up today

Drove the whole coast. A bit more swell than I expected but conditions are not too bad really. Apart from touring I did throw a couple of lines in. One Flathead and that was about it. Middle of the day is not the best time. Plenty of bait fish getting hammered inside the reefs.

 spent most of the afternoon

spent most of the afternoon and an hour or so after sunset just up past the shacks. weed was pretty heavy in close so required a good cast to stay free of it till you pulled your line in. Didn't have any luck at all, nothing was biting not even pickers. Did see one group who were a 100m+ up from us casting at a reef off shore pick up what look like a couple of tailor. Otherwise nice afternoon to sit on the beach with a coldie watching the sun go down... that's fishing for ya.

I have found the tailor to be a bit hit and miss up there this year some days good others really bad.  The tailor copped a hammering last year up thre it might have made a difference for this year
