Winds of change

Hey fishos,
Planning on headign out saturday for soem bottom bouncing geographe bay on Saturday, forecast suggests a NE -> NW wind pattern.
I have heard from some fishos that these winds kill the bite, but not sure that is true? Why would it do so anyway?
I thought it may be good to take a poll on this idea ( that a NW wind is bad for fishing) and see what the general opinion is.
Just answer YES ( if you agree that the Northerly winds are bad for fishing) or NO; feel free to add some discussion and comments to the vote.
Cheers.

better
fish will always ho on the bite better when the wind goes round to the north northwest. They can feel a change coming and go on a feeding frenzy before potential bad weather comes in and they go to ground.

Anything East is bad
When the winds in the North the fish come forth
When the winds in the South the baits' in their mouth
When the winds in the East the fish are at their least
And when the winds in the West the fish are at their best.

Interesting - so about half and half at the moment - It may be an area specific thing i.e. Perth metro vs Southwest vs Exie the wind direction that results in the predicted change may be alternate?

North- east = few fish
Much prefer a South or SW and when you think about is the predominant winds and hence water movement is from the S / W and points between - amazing the number of times the fish have come on the chew as the SW pipes up when they have been totally quiet on the easterly
I dont care though - any day on the water is a flaming good day when you normally spend time in an office

Yep any day on the water is a good day, it's a light northerly i'm not going out ha ha like nuts. The only thing I reckon affects the bite is the moon and tides.

Have done well with north winds, full moons as well. If you get too concerned about that you will never get out to go fishing

Many say the Nor Easter is a killer. I think its as much a northerly current that can put them off.
The current may be that the reefs are structured on a southerly direction. Northerly doesn't provided protection etc
I think the wind direction relates to barometric pressure. Rapid barometric changes can bring on fish feeding.
If barometric falls and steadies it can make fish lethargic feeders I think. So many variables, not enough fishing time

Best fishing is done in an easterly.
Worst winds are NE winds, which make the chop stand right up.
Worst fishing winds are a northerly...catch farrrk all most of the time!! probably because the current is going same direction and drifting way too fast.

I'm more worried up here in Carnavon if it's got northerly wind as that means rain...
also if the swell has any northerly aspect to it, I find that's when we get more 'rogue' waves that scare the bejesus outta you whilst fishing off the rocks near quobba.
thats my experience up this way anyhow!

Had a northerly current off Yallingup today, killed us! Then some north came into the easterly which made it far worse.
Only positive today was somenew ground picked up.... nothing like staring at a lit up sounder with baits, jigs & placcy's not even getting a sniff.

The swell today is the biggest I've seen it for some time :( it's smashing the beach and there are reefs not far off shore I've never seen break on. Jesus when do we get a break lol. Ah well fingers crossed for tomorrow. Funny thing is the swell was non existent when we got here last night, so where it came from is anyone's guess.
Love the West!
