woodies spanish mackeral

hi, a few people have caught spanish mackeral at woodmans point jetty and i want to catch one. Do i live bait or dead bait? also could a talia 12 handle one of the big ones?

heaps get caught there, one of my mates has list 4 (seen them jumping) haha dead and live baits, but yeah when targetting sharks
