I think a check with Fisheries
I think it might be a good idea to check with fisheries before having a try for crabs in the area you are thinking of. Isn't it part of the closed area for crabbing until further notice, I must confess that I'm not a 100% sure though.

Heres a man WANTING to catch crabs!!
Nah , crab ban area starts directly out west wards from wapet groyne near cement factory.
and all the way down to the coathanger at garden , point peron area, theres a map on fisheries website.
In saying that not sure there would be too many crabs around this time of year, water temp etc , but if you got a few they prob huge ones.

update.
Just got me thinking , so I just looked up just about info sheets and rules etc for blue swimmer crabs and
for the life of me coundnt find a map showing the ban limit areas.
I know its there somewhere cause I have seen it before , but you would think it would be on every sheet , phamplet they put out , but no.
So as a responsable fisher you could grab there few sheets and info , and head off for a crab , thinking you are right but get pinged.
Even the main 2016 rec fishing bible, has no map , just says cockburn sound closed for crabbing.
Cause it depends on your definition of cockburn sound , thats why the map was produced I guess.

www.fish.wa.gov.au/Fishing-and-Aquaculture/Recreational-Fishing/Recreational-Fishing-Rules/West-Coast-Bioregion/Pages/Seasonal-Closures.aspx
Check the very bottom of the page.

The ban/boundary of cockburn
The ban/boundary of cockburn sound are woodmans point groin to Carnac island anywhere north of that you'll be fine. As stated might struggle for a feed with the cold weather
