Yellow Fin Tuna

Nice double header of YFT on 10 kg mono for me and Tim, two lost including a big bustoff on strike, hit like a train!. Also got a nice kingie and a KG. Was a great day on the water.

Beau

Lots of surface action, turtles, whales, dolphins as well. Pretty flighty and not easy to pin down, had to work at it, tried stickbaits and got close but no cigar.

You just gotta be in the right area at the right time and ALWAYS carry your trolling gear. These ones were within 100m of where we got them this time last year..........trade secret I am afraid.

I have got YFT within 2 km of a popular Perth Marina, so yes, they are in possible in your tub, but probably later in the season.

Fair call John. We were out

Sun, 2013-11-10 20:15

Fair call John. We were out in the 40s last week just motoring off our spot when my brother spotted something large chasing down a flying fish out the back of the boat, we think it mightve been a yft. I bought some richter tornados and jellybabes today for sbt and Stripeys in close I hope they're big enough skirts to tempt some yft!

Going by Bouyweather chart, I would say 20.5. My temp sensor was hooked up to the wrong sounder today (long story), so no temp.

Johndid you use minnow lures

Mon, 2013-11-11 09:18

John

did you use minnow lures or pushers? Just checking because the tuna here in Perth waters are different to the nothern cousens that often will only take "match the hatch" size slices like twisty's etc.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
