Yellow Object
Submitted by Kakkerlak on Thu, 2015-06-25 21:01
Yesterday while burleying on the 3 mile I had a large yellow object move under and past the boat. It left a large blotch on the sounder and did not hang around for long. At first I thought big shark but not sure what large shark would be yellow. The were a few skippy around and my only conclusion was that it was a large and tightly packed school of skippy but then I've never seen skippy just school up on move along like that especially since there were allot of burley in the water.
Any one else have some thoughts on that that could have been I keep thinking about it?
PS I did not have an alcohol on board :-)

You drifted over a yellow marker
Could it be that you drifted over a yellow marker buoy that was semi submerged. Just a thought.

Yellow
How yellow was it? One of the stingrays i caught yesterday off mindarie was a pale yellow and was 5 foot across. When we caught sight of it at 5m+ it looked like a shark as it was swimming sideways and giving me grief.
Sometimes when the water is quiet, you can hear the fish laughing at you !

More of brownish yellow.
More of brownish yellow. Still puzzles me since it was higher up in the water column so I don't think it was a ray.

Me and a mate were at the three mile one morning drifting around and had this avg -large sized stingray PPP up as we killed the motor and then hang around, it was a pale white in colour, sitting right under the boat, followed us for a while too, we assumed it was schooled in waiting for the cray baits around the area and was hanging for a feed, never seen a white stingray, unless it was upside down, this one wasn't....
anyways, it's amazing the weird stuff we see out in the drink, hope you find the answers mate,
my first thoughts while reading were maybe a large king lit up in hunting mode since the skippy were around ? Or a light coloured sambo? Surely not a dollie in that close hahah or maybe large cuttle or squid?

Radio on
It is actually illegal not to have your radio on. What's the point of having one if you don't turn it on. You may hear a mayday as i did a few years ago and was able to relay.

Thats all well and good
Thats all well and good Iceman, but Pete's mate is probably with the Special forces and has the code name 007 no doubt. The sub in question was probably delivering his next mission.....should he choose to accept it that is.
