You would't urinate on them if they were on fire

Has anybody had a look at the discrepancy between the predicted wind forecast for falcon and the actual wind speed for Saturday and Sunday on willy weather.

What a joke, with all the money spent on satellites put into space to better predict how the weather is going to be this is the best that they can come up with, I got a far and away better prediction from my dear old mums beetle kept in a match box
Good people rely on these forecast to plan safe travel be it by boat plane or car and this is the best that they can come up with and BOM are in the same (excuse the pun) boat with them.

Computers and such I'd like to know just how much the government spend on these things to do their modelling for them what ever it is it's to much.

Can anyone tell me of a site that is reasonably reliable at predicting weather for the WA coast.

Within reason

Sun, 2018-12-16 08:38

I reckon a bit harsh on the initial post and comments (that is if you were expecting it to be good weather yesterday and it turned crap). According to the forecast yesterday, our usual guys who go pull cray pots and have a pretty good background in boating and the ocean as a whole, had already made the educated decision it was going to be too rough to go out yesterday (based on the forecast provided). It was clear that even a few days out, the boating conditions Yesterday and today we’re going to be extremely rough.

Websites can give a “forecast” for the weather conditions, and I find this is generally about 95% accurate across the whole year. A website with a weather forecast is excactly that, a “forecast”. The webpage management team can obviously not influence the outcome of the weather, nor anyone’s decision making to go, or not to go out boating for the day. I see the whole website with a weather forecast at the touch of a button as a privellage. Think of the older times when it was newspaper or radio that influenced your decision a few days ahead as to whether you were going out for the day or not, that would have been crap.

Predictions have been on point for the last month. Then they get a morning wrong and the world is ending.

 Wind conditions are always

Sun, 2018-12-16 09:13

Wind conditions are always extremely hard to forecast with thunderstorms about as each cloud will control its patch of wind and it will either suck in or exhale a bit of puff.

Friday evening had possibility of thunderstorms in the south from 2000 yet thunderstorms started popping up from the north at that time. No mention of anything other than southerly though most locations got their peak wind gust at 2130 -2200 which peaked as a 46 knot north westerly gust at Jandakot.

They nailed rain and thunderstorms though the direction was off. Pretty good after a 38 degree fine day.

I don't understand...the general forcast for most sites is landbased..so don't fucking go by them.

Use Meteye....and look at Garden / rotto or the ocean location your heading along with time slot, because the wind out there is totally fucked different to what's on land.
Apologies for the language...

I use yr no Weather web site

Wed, 2018-12-19 13:57

I use yr no Weather web site for when I plan a fishing trip very handy when I am in Tasmania as the local forecasts are spot on with the wind strength and direction. I have used this weather site for local forecatsing around the Perth area but it is only good for 3 day forcasts.
