Your 2008 fishing highlight?

With the new year coming, what was your fishing highlight of 2008?  Been a couple of standouts for me, one was getting a sailfish, marlin and yf tuna in a few hours and some sick aerial and release shots.  Then there'd be the 120kg marlin from the other week, but the best would have to be hooking 4 marlin in 30 minutes in crystal clear water and landing one which went well over 100kg in my 4m tinny that took 3.5 back breaking hours.

my first meter plus black jewie (mulloway)

Fri, 2008-12-19 09:54

Has to be my first meter plus and not the last!!! Balck Jewie ( mulloway) in the NT. Hooking a big steam train like that in shallow water was a fight and a half... hell they pull hard.

Having caught nine or so in three hours, we where stoked and released a good few big ones as well.... YES I do now have mango maddness and will be going back to NT Kakadu as soon as I can again...Cool

At hillarys watching some hot shit boat owner drive his big flash boat onto his trailer....his mate yells to him" you right?"  Skipper yells.." just get going"  and thats when i got to see a nice etec bouncing up the notches of the boat ramp...and bits coming off everywhere.

I think i might of pissed him off when laughed at him and said oh well you have a short leg now aye!

My first dhuiefish

Fri, 2008-12-19 14:38

screaming to Bob I'm stuck it wont move, well you can imagine the language, (he's so nice to me) you silly $#@!%^$$ women you've got a big fish, reel it in.  God I thought I had Australia on my hook, 12kgs from 90metres when you aren't used to pulling up that far and that was 11yrs ago. Plus it was the first fish on the boat, so somebody was muttering in the back ground. You know what I mean fellas, when the wife or deckie gets the first fish.

Bob's best fishing trips in the Club was four off shore championships with just him on board.

Without a doubt for me it would be catching a Spanish Mackeral off the back of HMAS Anzac and getting the skipper to stop the ship so I could bring it in. Awesome.

Three days without it and I get a little jumpy
