Yesterday afternoon after TAFE I decide to go out for a quick fish for snapper around 4:30pm out from Mandurah. I dropped anchor and chucked some baits out bang I was on, landed a snapper and it was a 48cm pinkie, released him and then around when the sun was going down I had two rods out and one rod went off and this is going to be a awesome fish, while fighting that one my other rod went off, so now I have two big pinkies but unfortunately due to the boat moving around I lost one. I got the other one in to the boat and measured 80cm. After 20mins from landing the other pinkie my rod went off again, fight the exact same as the last fish, I landed that pinkie and he measured in at 80cm to. Now I have my bag limit and headed in. One of the best afternoons fishing I have ever had!
i also agree that these fish look a little lighter then 10kg add to that your 15kg sambo pic in another post, i would think your scales may need a little calibration.
i caught a few snapper around the 800mm last week and no were near 10kg.
taking nothing away from your ripper snap snaps bud, looks like a sensational sesh.
I was the bloke in the centre console next to ya.
Don't tell anyone ya spot or once this storm buggers off every man and dog will out there. Itll be like the D9 in Cockburn.
Well don't over estimate weight when u put pics up that r clearly less than what u say- just like ur so called 15 kg sambo??
My profile pic snapper is 11.8 kg and went 98cm so I think that puts urs in the 7 kg mark mate- not doubting there good fish mate , just let people admire ur quality fish without the exaggeration
Hey mate your is a best of a fish but these one I got were full of Ocys and fish and the fillets off it was soo thick. I and weigh them with really good scales!
From Fisheries Research Report 242 of 2013. My experience suggests that the ratio in the report is a little high (caught a 900mm pink that was 8.2kg and a 950mm pink that was 8.5kg in Perth Metro) but then Dave's from a week ago was 920mm and 10.5kg so there is local variation. An 800mm pink over 10kg seems a little unlikely, but as others have said they are quality fish - well done.
The lengths I quoted were total so my "bad". 800mm FL over 10kg is still a kg over mean weight though. I just tried to put some scientific fact into the debate. Quality pinkies, but the only judge is certified scales. If you don't know then just state "about" so the "reasonable" questions don't flow.
I have made a length to weight matrix chart (various species) for PGFC based on scientific data I gathered and an 80cm fork pink is around 9kg.
Will never be able to get away from the fat or skinny fish issues but we have found it very close on most occasions. Enough that the weight from the chart is more a rule than the exception.
Yeah where I am fishing there is so much bait fish in the water and small reef fish and when I cut it open it open small wraes and bait fish just poured out with fish
Yeah I'm hoping to head out tues nite and berley up in 12 mtr of water and get into those big boys.i find fresh herring best bait floated out the back for the big ones man
They definitely are cranking fish there mate. Not taking anything away from you I would put them at 7-8 kg max. Like Mickc said just put in an estimate and you won't get the inane excited replies.
I seen ed out there that night on his own in 2 mtr swell 12nt sw and his tinny was about 12ft. Little bloke is mad keen. He knows his stuff and the pinks we got where fat as didn't weight them but estimated at 9kg and 850s. Ed we're heading out Saturday arvo if u want to tag along in your boat

6/7kg if they're better conditioned than they look. Unless your 7'4" of course.

Length
These lengths are usually fork length not overall as it is the only consistent way to get a measurement for something like this.
