Yeah, just like his old unit.

Yeah, just like his old unit. It never leaked, but the exposure caused all the pins to corrode eventually.

No harm in keeping the salt spray of marine electronics, especially ones you don;t leave in the boat.

Perspex cover

Thu, 2011-06-30 22:53

I also thought they were water proof, but have had pins corrode on other unit's. What are the perspex strips for ? Is there a cover ( door ) that slots on to the front ? . Just curious as i will be fitting out a boat next year and would apreciate the info .

Cheers Grant.

EDIT. Question answer'd , just saw other thread. Cheers.

The box is the MB1100 or Matching Box, its for dual trannies and allows the use of the 2kW trannies with the FCV-585.

No, but its like antennas I

No, but its like antennas I guess.

There is a legal maximum EIRP (transmit power), but you can have as much recieve senstivity as you can lay your hands on. The better transducers have better recieve sensitivity.

So you can't yell as loud as you can on a 295, but you can listen just as well.

does it give you a clearer reading than a 1kw tranny, on 200khz, i know the 50khz is ok anyway at that depth with 1kw,

Not sure how much better than a 1kW it is, but it should be better ;)

Cheapest I've seen the megatwin is $1199 over east, not sure they're especially cheap overseas ATM.

Hard pressed to go past a used Miya Epoch though I reckon!

Get the Miya Harro

Fri, 2011-07-01 19:35

I reckon it's way more user friendly than the Tanacom we were using.

Not sure if it will hold up to a mega Bass though???

I wonder if they make a bigger unit?

The Miya Epoch are a lot more

Fri, 2011-07-01 19:48

The Miya Epoch are a lot more beasty reel than the Daiwas. Miya had the first electrics out, and they're the only ones issued with a commercial warranty.

You can pick them up used off ebay, and there is service in Australia, just its pricey no doubt!

Megatwin has some nifty jigging features, I haven't tried them yet though ;)
