G'day all,
Few weeks ago went up to Quobba station from perth,
This was the first fish caught on the day, on a tiny spin reel - i was going for small fresh bait for the boat trip, however hooked onto this beast of a tailor
put up a good fight :)
Matt.

But I am interested. What terminal tackle were you using and what bait. If you were going for small stuff the light rod and reel is a feat on its own, but I suspect you were using a light leader, small hook and small bait. That makes this a a fantastic capture.
Pray tell the tale.

Was using a small whiting rig
Was using a small whiting rig with 18Lbs line...so it definatly shocked me, had to fight it to keep it away from the rocks so it wouldn't break me off.
Used my Tiny Tiny spin reel thats around 10 years old so the fishing gods were looking favorably on me that day :)

Man that is a feat
How you didnt get razorred by the teeth has me baffled. You must have been lucky and just lip hooked it. Either way Im impressed.
The jumbos like that I caught at Kalbarri was on a designated tailor rig and even then was a challenge.
Well done mate.
