Yeah basicaly dean.....you cast out as far as possible but 99% of hits come right at the reef edge! Myself and sherbs took another FW member up there once and he did nothing but clean up!lol. 2 sharks, 3 banjos and mobs of tailor! Me and sherbs got about 6 tailor each! He wasnt invited again!lol.hahahaha Na cant wait to get up there because the fishing is really good its just getting your catch over the reef that is the fun part! :)
is that the only spot u can leave your rod if u wanna set outta a big dead/live bait? is it worth doing, bcoz read plenty of reports lately about 3-4ft sharks been caught off the beaches up mindarie way...there would have to be sharks there! also spess, what spinning metals like there 20-30gm? bit more fun than just bait fishing imo
You need long rod holder Around 4ft or more cos your line gets stuck on the front of the reef, I move up to loonies if i stay over night were there is big gutters and its great for night fishing. steve Born to fish forced to work
Yean i only fish metals there samC! I have found that the 20 to 30gms are best but have had some good hits and takes on 105 rooter poppers as well. As for the shark question theres shit loads of them there. Its just hard to get them over the reef as they arent as easy to guide in on a wave like smaller fish. You can fish right on the edge as me and sherbs do but it just means holding onto your rod. We found that with a balloon attched and a long trace to you bait is easy to leave out there with the rod so far back. Bg dead baits on the bottom you hold the rod instead. Great fun and great spot.
Sherbert doesnt fish there at night because he keeps getting dumped by big waves! Funny as hell to watch......just imagine a top to toe shoaked grandad with waiders on full of water walking back up the beach!lol. Funniest thing ive ever seen! :)

So the reef spans out
So the reef spans out another 10 or so meters, and the fish hold just behind the reef?
