Now that is some mean looking hook ,and im guessing the line would be 1000lb ,looks more like a shark rig .well done on the bluebone, great fish .

Maybe not 1000lb

Fri, 2010-02-19 09:54

The go-go-gadget arms and a close lens position makes it look a bit bigger in the picture. I would guess 200lb line.

I haven't used those sort of hooks in a long while but jeez they were effective. Andrew must have had them razor sharp to nail a Baldie's gob.

I'm pretty sure he was saying it was a rig Doug Clegg had shown him years ago.

Great Baldie

I find it hard to go past mulies as a reliable and versatile bait when offshore.

Interesting hookup through the side of the head and out the nostril, was it a foul hook-up?

big baldie

Sun, 2010-02-21 00:23

the baldie looks about 7 kilo in the picture but with that extreme close up and those unbent elbows i bet its around 3.5 kilo. oh well i spose we have all been guilty of the old un bent elbow trick in our time to make the fish look that little bit bigger
