nah this is a smaller one i lost the thumper the other nite at chinies and you couldve heard me swearing fm northampton! didnt see a popper in its gob though! but if i get one w it in ill send you back the popper! the one w the missing tail had been chomped by something else
ha ha
gotta love it up there! Would live there at the drop of a hat...and lotto!
We anchored up just around the tip of oyster reef (inside!) after trolling for Macks at the end of last week (Thurs-Sat between fronts).
Hooked up to 5 Jumbos that bit us off (wondered at the time if they were grey suits) but after seeing ya pics we now know why, couldn't believe the hits...friggin awesome.
Swapped to wire but they then weren't on the bite anymore, this was around 8.00-8.30pm.
yeah thought there might be toothys but these do as much damage as them, that wasnt you guys in a small ally boat w red stripe on it was it? i think theyre off the bite at the mo cos of the moon but ill find out 2mw nite hehe!
yep that was us mate...4.6m Ali seahunter
You didn't happen to catch sight of us coming back in on Thursday late arvo?
Gave the cliff dwellers something to ooo and aarrgh about trying to get past the washing machine!
what night did you hook up, causeI remember we noticed one lone headlamp going nuts amongst the rocks!!! LOL
We mainly targeted the macks but from what I was told they have moved and we were lucky to get one ~10kg in the boat. Got another to the side on the Thurs but the deckie f@#*ed the gaffing up and the Mack shook the lure. Spewin as it was easy +120cm.
Also dropped a 45cm Silver Bream in the river at the spot I mentioned. Bloody thing bit through the hook right next to the boat. Boated a 45cm Soapie.
The nursery is working well in the Murch with a tonne of sml bream & tailor, great to see.
yeah saw ya i thought you guys were gona broach the boat on the slab there, its such a dodgy spot there, you have to come in on an angle and get along side the second marker! if that wave had broken a bit more you guys wouldve been in a spot of bother thats for sure! yeah that lone lamp at the end of chinies was me carrying on, id just landed a thumpa and got a bit excited over the size of them. brought back memories of the ones we used to get there years ago. yeah the makks are still around, going for a balloon off wagoe on sunday, there are alot of big tuna coming round now in the shallows, but most of the makks have moved up north now past baldy!
yep, turned it in towards the second marker a little too early and got the edge
of the w/machine and stuck on the face of that wave. Power on a bit and could put the bow in, ease off and lose momentum so just had to keep it steady, moving and let the wave pass under and then get on the back of it. Lucky my mate had it sussed as well, by jumping over to the starboard side it levelled us out a bit to ride it out.
Have run the gauntlet numerous times now and every time is diff.
We left on Sunday and it looked bloody fantastic out on the blue as we travelled South despite the build up.
your a lucky man Tangles, living up there.
one day I'll do the same and move the family up there when the circumstances are right.
