Banax Kingpin a year on

Banax Kingpin a year on

Some of you will remember the banax kingpin thread from a year or so ago where they copped a flogging from a disgruntled customer.  I got myself one to test out and to see if I could break it as easily as was stated.  Well, a year on and after some decent rankins and 'numerous' spanglies I picked up this big cod from 75m of water that made life hard work.  I tried as hard as I could to bust it off as I knew it was a shark or cod but unfortunately could not do so, I ended up having to vent him and use about 100 oz of release weight and can only hope he went on his way.  :(  As for the reel, not exactly sure what went on with the other guys, but mine has done its job as a cheap reel that can handle some solid fish.  People may scoff at the name banax, but the reels are pretty bloody solid in my opinion.

Still have some of my banax reels from 11-12 yrs ago going strong! I remember the post well & was miffed that those reel stems broke considering the bullet proof rep these guys have. Good to see Adam, I like the look of the kingpin

Ive hade a Banax GT for a few years as a cheapy for the dinghy and im also suprised how well it is still going, its landed big sharks, macs, tuna, and without a service still feels as smooth as the day i bought it and it doesnt look like slowing down.
