There was pics of one in the Sunday times (great white) that some crew took out from Gero- this may be taken by the same crew. Apparently the shark gave their boat a nudge, then they looked over and there were blokes spearing fish only a few hundred metres away- BLOODY LUCKY!!
Yes that is definatly a great white ! An great white sharks follow the coast up and down all of western australia , i def would not want to be in the watter with that beast lol
Wrong dorsal fin, and pectorals longer than tigers. I would be very surprised to see this up here in Dampier waters.
Very strongly suspect a joke.

Considering the manta rays (plankton feeding, which live mostly on the surface during the day)this could well be a basker (basking shark). Similar to the whitey in shape but no white under colour. They feed on plankton so are more likely to be seen on the surface, especially at this time of year up this way.
I've seen a video clip of this shark and can say (unfortunately) it is Dampier. Not so much as hamersley shoals, but more like off Angel isl out near the pipeline. From the video clip you can clearly see an iron ore carrier coming down the channel. I know the guy from woodside who took the photos as well.
