Beautiful fish there Bob (and JD). JD do you normally troll submerged structure at Moondarra or is it more a lure casting to structure scenario?

She was caught trolling near

She was caught trolling near some markers you can see in the background. You can pick up a little hole on your sounder but only about 6m deep. This spot has produced a number of meter plus fish.

Bob uses a Shimano Ian Miller Raider Barra Impoundment rod, paired with a Shimano 300 Conquest reel (upmarket version of the TE 300, from Japan). I think he uses 30lb Fins Prt braid with 60lb Jinkai leader.

Casting at structure has produced results but the most success has come from this particular spot or trolling the edges of a number of weed beds throughout the dam.

Yes, she was released to fight another day. As are all the fish we catch in our dam.

That raider rod seems to

Thu, 2007-04-19 09:54

That raider rod seems to handle 30lb alright by the looks, as it is only a 10kg rated stick i thought it my be to much for it but maybe not! Not a bad snapper drift baiting rod either.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
