Can you Identify this ?

I caught this from the rock wall as you drive out to the North Mole in Freo last Friday night . It was around 11.00pm and I was using a 6-8kg snapper set up with smallish circle hooks and a peeled coral prawn. It has resemblance to both a sweetlips and a morwong but has differences also ? It measured in at 90cm and had no teeth.

It does have similarities but the spines on its back are different and there was a blank space between the 2 sets of dorsal fins which the morwong does not seem to have ?

Thanks mate . Was still my biggest catch off the rocks even though the eating was not so good , it has a lot of black through the very wet flesh.

Balloons are the definately the go if winds are favourable, although ive never slide baited. in saying that the tiger in my pic was caught on your standard beach rig.

I used to fish jindalee beach but pretty sure its all closed up now, dont think spots are that important sharks move around a fair bit

My go to bait was whole mullet around 35cm, though ive picked them up on mulies aswell

eating would of been pretty average haha...

ive never used tuna heads myself but i see a few others have, dont think they are too fussy might be a bit more difficult to get nice hook exposure and presentation with a tuna head.. also more resistance through the water if your ballooning.

Slimey/ blue macks are really good too but mullet are a much hardier bait
