thats a great shot.... even better that u *caught it by hand* your just gettin better and better adz lol... who needs rods reels pushers n teaser just take Mr G and his goggles lol.. but yes well done fella lovely fish
What is that other fin in the background. You are holding a almost dead but to be revieved fish in tiger country. Tigers follow tired and sick fish and you should know that as a researcher. Man that is mad or brave. At least you dont look like a seal and Galeocerdo cuvier (tiger) dont like them.
Fishing off the Murions in the early 90's. Lots of bites and then nothing. Bloody hot (43+ on the water). Jump in and have a swim. Not wise. A huge tiger followed us 10 swimmers to the boat and then breached like a whale behind the boat just like to say piss off bastards. The last chap in the water is a famous perth knock you out doctor (Anaesthetists) and he left some dark trails in the water, I think like a squid.
They're not ripples Russ, thats the current. ;) I figure they are dropping in approximately 400 + tourists a day right on the back of the reef in real shark country and there hasn't been one taken so my odds aren't too bad. Mind you one of the whale shark boats dropped a load of passengers in on a 3.5m great white last Monday. Plenty of big ooglies out there, just hope he takes the fish first. Worst case scenario, went doing what I loved doing most..
I am not so sure I would be comfortable if that fish decided to really kick like a Tailor or Herring. The bill could cause some serious damage. You guys obviously know what you are doing LOL.

Think before you swim with tired or dying fish.
