Usually 20lb for most work. Occasionally i'll bump up to a bit heavier if theres bigger fish around. 20lb makes it fun for the smaller fish (3kg ones still take a bit of drag) and you can still catch bigger ones (with a lot of drag pulling fun). Lost about 3 big ones on the jig, and they've all taken one turn of the spool then snapped off (right near the swivel). Bit odd. I've used heavier leader lately to see if I still get the same problem.
Depends what you define as conistently :p. For the most part, it is at least on par with bait. (outfished bait on some trips, and vice versa). If theres no dhuies in board at all on a trip, then its hard to say whether its the jigs not working, or the fish not being there. Sometimes the dhuies will just hit the jig out of aggression, so I guess in those circumstances, it might outfish bait.
I mostly jig because its fun and I can use light gear though. I usually run 20lb gear, sometimes 40 and mostly 70-150g jigs. Bit more work than bottom bashing (although you're not holding a heavy rod and reel attached to 24oz of lead). For my jigging gear and style, its not overly tiring (not like sambo jigging). Does get a bit frustrating jigging all day catching nothing at all. In that case bait and wait is easier :p
Pinkies quite like the jigs but I've yet to catch a baldy on a jig.

Jigging for Dhu!
G'day mate, do you consistently catch Dhu's on jigs?
Is it alot of hard work?
I am more the convential fisher who chases them on the bottom with relatively good success, and am wondering if I should get into the jigging!
What about Baldy's and Pinkies, are they chasing your jigs?
I am inquisitive, because I may be missing out on fish by not jigging.
