FIRST fish on Softy Plastics
Down mandurah for 5 days...(2nd anniversary)...had to take my rods though!! go all the way down there and not take the rods..ha..as if lol
thought i would pass by dawsville cut..obvioulsy not dressed for fishing..the weather was holding up for a bit..lucky i had the rods in the car....saw some people catching herring...looked at the mrs and i had this big smile on my face...lol dashed to the car..got my rods..rigged up for soft plastics ....
put on a 2.5inch pearl minnow ...few casts later i was on...reeled it in right by the rocks..as i lifted my rods ..it dropped off...im like *its ok atleast i now there are fish there* lol...i droped 6 more after that!!! i just dint hook them proplery i guess..dropped them all by the rocks..herring just go nuts when they see you..
thought maybe i should try a dif plastic...put on a 3inch minow cajun chicken..second cast i was on ...and thats the fish..its not big, but not a bad herring..and a first on soft plastics..so happy i caught it on plastics (i put the herring back btw)..i might start using plastics from now on...everytime i go fishing..i start off with plastics..couple a casts later i use bait..this time i had no bait..so i had no choice..which was a good thing i guess. Hope to catch more fish on plastics.

Good work getting your first
Good work getting your first on sp! Stick at them as they will often produce better quality fish than using bait when fishing for smaller fish.

Softies...
...not just herring that eats 'em down there. If you're there on the right day the skippy, salmon trout and tailor will hammer the placcies as well...although with tailor the soft tail doesn't last long, and the bigger ones will bite the whole thing off.
The other thing to remember is that when the blowies are around, work your lure fairly quickly through the water, otherwise they'll shred it.
