Nothing weird about that Sherbert, been doing it all my life. My Dad taught me to hold the rod in your strongest hand and pump the fish in, whilst winding up the line with my weaker arm. We started on threadlines back then where you could change the handle over easy enough but when I started bottom fishing out wide and switched to overheads it was a bit of a shock to see how few options there are for let hand wind reels.
Happy to show you my rigs mate, just stop by next time you are at the ramp and I'll give you a couple to copy / dabble with.
