Meant to say before - good job. If it works and it's used - that's the main thing.

Definately do mate

I just recaptured two tagged fish last week after being released with a release weight. Both fish showing signs of barotrauma yet when recapured 11 months later had grown significantly.
Hard to get more conclusive proof than that.

Get them back down quick

Thu, 2008-10-16 16:23

I relase them on or near the bottom.
The fish Tim and I tagged were BB's, Pinkies and a 70cm Dhuie. We tagged 8 fish that day, all legal size and to have recaptured 2 in 2 weeks at different spots is amazing. I had no idea they were ours until I rang Tim.
I use the release weight on everything from the above up to big sambo's.  Though I will usually use a simple releaes with pinkies as they are much more hardy than the dhuies. Also I try and spear the sambo's first but will drive back and pick em up then release weight them if they resurface.
