I just recaptured two tagged fish last week after being released with a release weight. Both fish showing signs of barotrauma yet when recapured 11 months later had grown significantly.
i bet it was a buzz to see your own tag .just maybee that gps co ord is a secrect .i wouldnt think there would be to many that are nowdays in the metro.what fish ?dhui, black bum? ive only release a few fish with wieghts mostly pearl pearch in about 60m with 2,,24 oz sinkers ,its great to know theve got a real crack at surviveing.do you think it makes a diff at how fast you drop them back down.fast,, slow what are your thoughts.not trying to hijack just interested .
The fish Tim and I tagged were BB's, Pinkies and a 70cm Dhuie. We tagged 8 fish that day, all legal size and to have recaptured 2 in 2 weeks at different spots is amazing. I had no idea they were ours until I rang Tim.
I use the release weight on everything from the above up to big sambo's. Though I will usually use a simple releaes with pinkies as they are much more hardy than the dhuies. Also I try and spear the sambo's first but will drive back and pick em up then release weight them if they resurface.

Yeah Kev
Meant to say before - good job. If it works and it's used - that's the main thing.
