Fishing in Albany today
Well with only 3 days in Albany to get out for a fish, you just have to some times to cop a bit of wind. Blowing between 15 and 20 knots from the NE. we launched at the yacht club near Little Grove and headed over to the eastern side of the harbour, to shelter from the wind. First stop was a spot i was given to by a member of here. We found a nice sand patch, thru the anchor out...as well as a handfull of spess's special pellets. Baited up my hook with a peice of cockel and dropped her to the bottom. Soon as it hit the bottom..bang, i was on. Turned out to be a 34cm kg. To easy!
We pulled a few more up for tea..and the wind was getting stronger. Claire decided to drop her rod in the water..so i had to brave the icy Albany waters to retreive it.... and yes i did it with a smile. Pulled up a few other strange looking whiting i havnt seen before..some kind of weed witing i think..check out the pic.
Got back to the ramp at 1pm, enjoyed a quick fish..and a quick dip in the water!

Haletta semifasciata,
The blue weed whiting, they are an absolute pain when counting fish on underwater camera systems in that harbour, let alone trying to get past them and too the KG's. The small ones make excellent live bait for XOS skippy. Next time try the yatch club where you launched. My best skippy from there was 76cm but you usually get onto a few around the 50cm mark.
