Gnaraloo Special

Gnaraloo Special

Take one pot, wooden spoon, empty beer stubby, water, liberal spray of cooking oil, add bait of choice (recommend Arnotts Pizza Shapes as A1) and....wait.

Anyone that's been there knows the mice drive ya nuts so this way you can get your own back...heh heh.

Looks like you got the clean donga! We always stayed in number 3, last March when we were there we got one with a guada (spelling - snake) in it, lets just say there werent too many mice running riot, bloody nasty looking piece of work.

Gwarder. Did you move it on?

Mon, 2009-01-05 23:09

Gwarder, gwardar, gwardir. I have seen several versions. Seems to be a transliteration, hence the different forms.

Did you move it on? They are not a happy snake, generally. Most Browns aren't...

Good for the mice, though, as you said.

Oh, and an interesting aside

Mon, 2009-01-05 23:14

Oh, and an interesting aside when talking about brown snakes, according to wikipedia:

"The Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) is the most toxic member of the genus and is the second most toxic land snake in the world, after the Inland Taipan (which may also be found in Australia)."

You read that right. The Eastern Brown is more toxic than the Coastal Taipan (the Taipan most people are familiar with- not the shy Inland Taipan mentioned above).

Not sure about clean Ads. Have a closer look at the stovetop on the RHS of the pic?! They aren't sultanas I can assure you....

Think we stayed in No.6? Luckily no Gwarder in residence - hence the meece I guess.

Aboo - r u a herpetologist (snake guru) or something? ;-)

In all the trips 14+ up there we stopped in the shearing shed
except for the first[3 mile] and never had a lot of trouble with mice, just bats flying round squeeking in the middle of the night

Annoyance

Tue, 2009-01-06 12:36

Another one that annoyed us was the mobs before we arrived who would be too lazy to walk right outside into the holding yard instead urinating into the catching pen and through the shearers gates.
All one could smell was the stench of stale piss untill we covered it up with dirtOther than that many fine memories to be had.
