Good Estuary Cod

This cod had me snagged in the rock bar for a while but the 80lb leader held up and I managed to drag him out with the drag locked up. Nice dinner tonight!

Yeah Adam they have really nice white flakey flesh at that size. No worms like the ocean ones. I prefer them to eat over a barra any day. Barra have quite a prominant blood line if you don't bleed them straight away whereas the estuary cod can go straight onto ice and turn out really nice :)

Nice cod there Jay. Personally I prefer to have the fish held in the hands for the pic, even wearing gloves if the fish dictates it, as I think it presents a nicer image.
Each to their own but Jay, I'm not saying my way's right, just personal preference I suppose.

I agree with you there big
I agree with you there big john. It's a bit harder at night though. We were rushed considering it was dark and the fact that they are really slimy critters made it hard to hold it in the hands... even with gloves on (if you've caught an estuary cod you'll know what I mean). I figured a gaff shot would be the easiest... but under normal cirumstances I would have preffered a fish in the hands pic.
