Gotta love it down there. In days gone by we used live Minnows from around those rock formations and by fallen logs and caught bucket loads of all sizes. Some real hooters came from there. I must admit not having fished there for probably 4-5 years now. I must make the effort. Thanks for posting the pic.

Hi Redfin we went to Waroona

Thu, 2010-04-08 08:18

Hi Redfin we went to Waroona Dam(Lake Navarino) on the March long weekend.  We had never stayed there before and it was really good.  The kids loved it.

We tried fishing in the dam for redfin with lures as no bait is allowed in Waroona Dam.  We did not even get a bite not even a nibble.

Is there a trick to this or do we just keep trying?  There were lots of ski boats around but we were fishing out of the ski area and the water was really low.  Is there a better time of the year to try and would we be better in the tinny?

A boat would help but i think you just need to keep trying... low water levels are usually great for redfin fishing. What lures were you using mate?

We were using the Halco RMG

We were using the Halco RMG Rainbow Trout lure and something else similar.  We were mainly casting around the edges and in the deeper sections where the small streams entered the dam.

I think we are just going to have to give the redfin another go maybe a bit earlier in the morningSmile

Yea early morning and late

Yea early morning and late afternoon are the times to go. Nothing wrong with your lure choice either. Just keep trying and if your not having any luck just change lure colours or types for example spinners, hard boddies, or even sp's.
